Paoli Dam was born on 4 October 1980 in Kolkata, West Bengal to a Hindi Bengali family. Her folks name are Amol and Papiya Dam. She has a brother named Mainak Dam.

Paoli went to Loreto School in Bowbazar, Kolkata. She graduated with a degree in science from Vidyasagar College. She finished her post-graduation in science from Rajabazar Science College.
Paoli began her profession with Bengali TV sequential Jibon Niye Khela in 2003. She has showed up in hardly any television serials: Sonar Harin, Scandal, Jaya, Mahanayak and then some.
